OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: A couple spend eternity in a castle until their reality starts to shift, as the unknown moves into their lives.

It all feels a little too familiar: An abandoned manor weighed down by cobwebs, a dark history, and probably more than a few ghosts. A couple whose frayed relationship threatens to collapse into violence. A long, dark night. And it all looks familiar, too, in garish shades of Jean Rollin (narratively) and Mario Bava (literally). But that story eventually fades into a very different one, similarly familiar but dropped unexpectedly into this odd context.

Writer/director Kevin Kopacka has fashioned a 70s Euro-horror mood piece by holding up a mirror to its influences, shattering the glass, and piecing the frozen reflection back together into a stained-glass collage. This is perfect for late-night viewing, and tailor-made for watching while drifting in and out of sleep and/or under the influence of your favorite mood-altering substances. Set to a fantastic soundtrack featuring artists with names like Acid Frog and Liquid Brain Orchestra--that sound exactly like you think they should!--and packed with strange and beautiful imagery, DAWN BREAKS BEHIND THE EYES is the kind of hazy cinematic experience that will linger in your memory long after the credits roll. - Jason Coffman
